Property Compliance Officer

We are seeking applications from highly motivated, reliable people who are keen to work in an Aboriginal organisation that is taking the next step towards self-determination and self-management by ensuring that the organisation is able to maintain a sustainable and financially viable housing portfolio across Victoria for Aboriginal people.

The Property Compliance Officer plays a key role in inspecting properties, assessing their  condition and maintenance requirements, raising work orders and ensuring completion of work in accordance with required specifications and standards.  The position also has a role in ensuring contractor compliance with building codes, other regulatory standards and AHV scopes of works on vacant, un-tenantable and other properties.   .

We are looking for someone who will bring a client centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills:

  • Sound judgement skills
  • Initiative and prioritisation skills
  • Collaboration and team work
  • Confidence in using a range of IT systems
  • Written and verbal communication skills

Sound knowledge and experience in the application of relevant statutory Building Codes, Acts and Regulations and residential construction techniques and methods is also required to be successful in the role.

This position is based in our North Fitzroy office, however you will be required to undertake  a significant amount of travel including to regional Victoria. Acess to a vehicle for work purposes will be provided.

A current Victorian driver’s license, National Police records check and a Working With Children Check are required for this position.

Life Coach

Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) is an Aboriginal community organisation responsible for managing over 1,500 rental properties for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living in Victoria. AHV’s vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities.

We are seeking applications from highly motivated, reliable people who are keen to work in an Aboriginal organisation that is taking the next step towards self-determination and self-management by ensuring that the organisation is able to maintain a sustainable and financially viable housing portfolio across Victoria for Aboriginal people.

The Life Coach reports to the team leader Wellbeing Programs and will work to actively engage AHV’s households in the project by working with households to identify their aspirations, and to assist them to build self confidence and to advance their aspirations.

 

The Life Coach will:

  • Engage households and provide opportunities for tenants to reach their aspirations and goals
  • Connect tenants and agencies
  • Mentor and assist people with referrals to other services as required
  • Work collaboratively with a broad range of community services

We are looking for someone who will bring a client centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills:

  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with individuals and families in needs assessment
  • Ability to engage, support and motivate individuals groups and service providers
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Collaborative and coordinated approach to finding solutions to challenges
  • Extensive Life experience and empathy for others experiences
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Highly organised with ability to work on multiple tasks, with competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

This position is based in our North Fitzroy office.
