Still much to do to close the gap

It's been 14 years since the first Closing the Gap framework was established and almost two years since the National Agreement was signed. The Agreement features a target to increase the proportion of appropriately sized housing for Aboriginal Australians to 88 per cent by 2031.

Our community is still more than 10 times more likely to present at a homelessness service than non-Aboriginal Australians.

We are set to publish an Annual Report Card for 2022 that measures the progress against key measures of housing outcomes embedded throughout Mana-na Woorn-tyeen Maar-takoort (Every Aboriginal Person Has A Home) - the Victorian Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness Framework.

The results show that - while significant progress has been made - there is still much to do to address the inequity faced across Victoria by our people.
