Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Performance, the Aboriginal Community Home Connect Manager is responsible for the development and full implementation of the project.

The Aboriginal Community Home Connect program, through telephone and internet contact with Aboriginal social housing households across Victoria:

  • Provides immediate support, assistance and service referral;
  • Maintains social and community connection;
  • Builds cultural strength and resilience that lasts beyond the pre-vaccination COVID-19 crisis.

The Manager of the Aboriginal Home Connect Program will be responsible for:

  • Developing relationships with external partners to provide training for staff and collation of sector appropriate checklists and conversation triggers to achieve the goals of the program;
  • Undertake research and analysis (including the identification of best practice) in respect of the policy and procedures required for the program to be successful and meet the needs of Tenants, the contract and AHV.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the sector and with like agencies to develop and refine policy positions, protocols and program design.
  • Oversee the development of an effective budget and monitoring of financial performance of the project within the contract
  • Oversee the recruitment, induction and performance of staff within the newly established team
  • Oversee the development of appropriate tools, resources, checklists, policies and procedures to support the success of the program
  • Oversee the development of compliance and risk obligations of the program.
  • Provide detailed and high level reporting as required.
  • Provide high quality and timely written materials including correspondence, briefings and presentations and/or project briefs.
  • Oversee the progression of key tasks, products, business plan actions, audit actions, Board and Executive Management Group related actions are on track and achieved
  • Project management including planning, resourcing, implementation and achievement of agreed deliverables.
  • Program development including leading program design and development of program specifications, procedures, guidelines and other documentation.

We are looking for someone who will bring a client-centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills:

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with thorough working knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies and demonstrate the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively within this environment
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective program design, implementation and compliance
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively within and across teams to ensure the completion of common goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present information both in writing and verbally, together with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills, particularly when working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the roles of Local, State and Federal Governments and the community housing sector.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work on multiple tasks, manage competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

This position will be based in our North Fitzroy office when COVID 19 restrictions allow us, but will be working from home until further notice.

Manager, Aboriginal Home Connect Project

Corporate Services Officer

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Performance, the Corporate Services Support Officer is a member of the Strategy and performance team and is responsible for assisting with a range of corporate services functions that support the organisations effective functioning.

The Corporate Services Officer will:

  • Be the main point of contact for AHV’s corporate suppliers and support colleagues with all corporate service related enquiries and issues.
  • Ensure all IT-related risks are adequately managed alongside AHV’s external IT provider including IT hardware, software, security and business continuity plan.
  • Assist new staff with IT set up and provide a corporate services induction, including allocation and set up of mobile and laptop devices for users and procurement of new equipment when necessary
  • Coordinate the full range of functions associated with AHV’s corporate vehicles including leasing of cars, the car pool booking system, car servicing, the provision of E-tags for all AHV vehicles, installation of security and tracking devices, follow up of accidents for repairs and insurance claims, coordinating infringement notices, issuing and maintaining log books and fuel cards.
  • Issue fobs, keys and alarm codes to staff and contractors. Maintain an accurate security register and liaise with AHV’s head office security and CCTV provider.
  • Organise the timely payment of corporate services related invoices via an approval workflow with the Director of Strategy and Performance.
  • Write CEO Briefings and Executive Management Group Papers on relevant corporate services related issues

We are looking for someone who will bring a client-centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills (KSC):

  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high quality and professional standard of corporate services support, including excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT systems, hardware and software including the Microsoft suite of applications
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • High-level customer service skills along with experience in liaising with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and apply a problem solving approach to work complexities.
  • High-level interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with other staff to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail along with the ability to manage competing priorities, to work autonomously and under pressure and take direction and responsibility for the effective completion of work.
  • Victorian Driver’s Licence is essential.
  • Whilst a formal qualification is not essential, experience in a varied corporate services role with a working knowledge of IT systems, hardware and software is highly desirable.

Senior Policy Officer – Identified Aboriginal Position

Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) is an Aboriginal community organisation responsible for managing over 1,500 rental properties for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living in Victoria. AHV’s vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities.

The Senior Policy Officer reports to the CEO and is responsible for policy work in respect of developing documenting and embedding policy positions of AHV. The role will research, analyse, and evaluate a wide range of information and options to develop policy proposals

The Senior Policy Officer will:

  • Effectively represent AHV’s position in a range of government and community forums and working groups
  • Undertake research and analysis for policy and program development
  • Provide high quality and timely advice and written materials
  • Coordinate a range of business plans and other reports for the CEO, Executive Management Group, the Board and its sub-Committees
  • Keep abreast of current stakeholder reports, data and other information sources and their impact on AHV
  • Contribute to the development of strategies which will enable AHV to deliver efficient and effective services to the community
  • Project management including planning, resource implementation and achievement of agreed deliverables


We are looking for someone who will bring a client centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills:

  • Knowledge of the roles of Local, State and Federal Governments in the community housing sector.
  • Highly organised with ability to work on multiple tasks, with competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Policy Officer Secretariat

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Performance the Policy Officer is responsible for undertaking a range of secretariat and policy functions to support the goals of AHV.  The Policy Officer is expected to research, analyse and evaluate a wide range of information, options and other data to develop policy positions, secretariat papers and proposals.

The Policy Officer will:

  • Undertake secretariat support functions for the Executive Management Group and the Board and its subcommittees, including coordination of a range of business plan and other reports and briefing papers.
  • Provide information and advice to the executive group on statutory and other matters that may impact on AHVs operations and responsibilities.
  • Maintain registers of actions and/or decisions of the Executive Management Group, the CEO and the Board and its subcommittees.
  • Undertake research and analysis (including the identification of best practice) in respect of specified areas for policy and program development.
  • Provide high quality and timely written materials including correspondence, briefings and presentations and/or project briefs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the sector and with like agencies to develop and refine policy positions, protocols and program design.

We are looking for someone who will bring a client centred focus to the role and with the following key attributes and skills (KSC):

  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Experience in Minute taking, meeting coordination, collation of secretariat papers and accurate records and document management.
  • Experience in developing a diverse range of corporate and operational policies, program procedures and manuals by undertaking the various aspects of the policy making process; such as research, development, consultation, drafting, implementation and review.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively within and across teams to ensure the completion of common goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present information both in writing and verbally, together with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a broad audience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills, particularly when working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the roles of Local, State and Federal Governments and the community housing sector.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work on multiple tasks, manage competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred.
