Aboriginal Homes Thrive

Formerly known as More Than a Landlord (MTAL), the  Aboriginal Homes Thrive (AHT) Program is proudly funded through grants by Homes Victoria. This program was initially supported by the University of Melbourne and continues to build on its strong foundation of evidence-based practice.

For the first time, AHT is available statewide which means more Aboriginal Community members living in AHV homes can access culturally appropriate, integrated supports to help them thrive.

Currently, the program supports dozens of people across Victoria (awaiting confirmation from Trudi).

Why the Program Exists

Having a safe home is the first step, but we know that thriving can mean more than just having a roof over your head.

The AHT Program is here to strengthen capacity and capability, to empower our renters to manage daily life, set goals, and achieve their aspirations .

By increasing access to culturally appropriate, integrated supports, renters will be able to:

  • Sustain tenancies
  • Feel empowered to comfortable manage their lives better
  • Self-determine their futures and thrive

This will lead to:

  • Higher sustained tenancies
  • Fewer evictions
  • Education, employment, cultural connection, and other opportunities
  • More Aboriginal renters moving into private rental or pursuing home ownership
