AHV's Annual Christmas Toy Appeal is Underway!

Aboriginal Housing Victoria's Annual Christmas Toy Appeal is underway!

AHV is an Aboriginal community organisation managing over 1700 rental properties for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in Victoria. Through the provision of secure housing by an Aboriginal landlord, Aboriginal Housing Victoria helps strengthen Aboriginal communities and cultural ties. We maintain and sustain tenancies to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many of our renters and their families. With the ongoing struggle of paying bills on a limited income, there is little money left for Christmas gifts. AHV will be providing gifts to hundreds of our renters’ children and Elders across the state thanks to donations made by our generous community. Your support will allow us to alleviate some of the additional stresses faced by many of our renters.

We are reaching out again to ask for support at what can be a challenging time of year for some of the most vulnerable in our community.

During our last Christmas Appeal, we were able to provide approximately 644 children Christmas gifts and also gave out hampers to 400 Elders (aged 60+) living in AHV households, and hope to surpass the number of people we can provide gifts for this year.

There are several ways you can assist in bringing some Christmas joy to Aboriginal Elders and families, including:

  • Dropping off brand new (unwrapped) toys to AHV offices in North Fitzroy during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm until Friday November 8, 2024
  • Make a monetary donation through Give Easy.
  • Email community@ahvic.org.au to discuss a corporate donation or to volunteer.
  • Buy a new toy through Simply Giving.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via community@ahvic.org.au if you would like to find out more or be involved.

Thanks for helping us spread Christmas cheer!
